The Government of Tamilnadu is holding ,controlling and co-ordinating the responsibility of conducting packages tours to different tourist destinations , running the Tourist coaches ,Boat rides maintaining and running the hotels and restaurants at the tourist centres and resorts in most places of Tamilnadu , thus depriving the private operators ,which entails heavy infrastructure burden, financial losses , and lethargic attitude in extending services to the tourists especially to the inbound foreign tourists who expect a value for money and quality.

Really can not understand the reasons for ignoring the private tour operators who have been efficient and meticulous in their approach to the tourists. The neighbouring states ,especially kerela developed tourism sector by leaps and bounds as they not only encourage the private tour operators but have also given them facilities and recognition.

In this situation the announcement made by our Honorable chiefminister J.Jayalalitha was not only a welcoming news but also a most timely one. It is most encouraging to hear of the allocation of Rs 500 crores for the development of tourism sector in tamilnadu. Asside of this , she has also announced that in tamilnadu all the developmental plans and its growth oriented projects will be carried out in collobration with the private tour operators.These two announcements made by our chiefminister gives the hope and anticipation of a very bright future for tourism sector.

In this connection , with due concern and respect , madura welcome brings the following to the kind attention of our Government,

1.The tourism reletaed operations hietherto carried out by our goverment such as running hotels and restaurents in places of tourist centres and spots, boat rights , package tours ,etc may please be entrusted to the well experiened private operators.By doing so the private operators will working full swing on promoting the tourism tamilnadu, which should provide enormous job opportunity as well as growth in economy .

2.The Government may retain the overall responsibility of issuing licences ,permits ,approvals ans sanctions for certain operations which will on the hand , go to the right and experienced tour operators who will attract more volume of tourists to Tamilnadu, and on the other hand,the income will be much more through collection and levy of different taxes.

If these suggestions were to be considered favourably and implemented , Tamilnadu under the able leadership of our honarable Chiefminister , Selvi .J.Jayalalitha will grow and attain the premium position in the whole of india competing with all the other states which claim to be advanced in tourism over a period of time.
